From wine glasses and champagne flutes to travel mugs, bowls and handy mounting accessories, SILWY’s magnetic system helps stop spills, sliding and cupboard clatter—whether you’re touring in a caravan, cruising on a boat or simply relaxing outdoors.

Anyone who has opened a caravan cupboard after a particularly enthusiastic stretch of corrugations knows the feeling. You pause, take a breath and wonder which plate, mug or wine glass has sacrificed itself for the journey.
SILWY has come up with a clever solution: put magnets into everyday drinkware and tableware, then give those magnets a secure surface to grip.
How SILWY works
SILWY products feature a magnet integrated into their base. That magnet connects with a specially designed metal nano-gel pad, mat, placemat or permanently mounted metal strip.
Place a magnetic wine glass on its matching pad and it stays firmly in position, helping prevent it from sliding or tipping when the caravan moves, the boat rocks or someone bumps the table while reaching for the cheese platter.

The removable nano-gel accessories work best on smooth, sealed surfaces. They can be lifted without leaving sticky residue, washed under clean water and reused once dry. Metal strips provide a more permanent option and can allow suitable SILWY glasses to be stored vertically or upside down—particularly useful when cupboard space is tighter than a caravan park site during school holidays.
We Put SILWY to the Tough Test
I had previously used SILWY while producing my TV show, Tough Tested, and we certainly didn’t give it an easy afternoon.
We placed a SILWY magnetic pad on a table inside a caravan, filled a SILWY glass almost to the top with water and then sent the caravan through an obstacle course that tilted it at all sorts of angles and bounced it around considerably.

A GoPro inside the caravan captured the entire test—and remarkably, the glass didn’t move and we didn’t spill a single drop. If that doesn’t demonstrate how well the system works, I’m not sure what will.
Born from an irritating travel problem
SILWY was launched in Germany in 2015 by company founder and CEO Christoph, with the simple aim of stopping crockery and glasses from clattering, falling and sliding about. The idea has since grown into a range of around 150 products used by more than one million customers worldwide.
It is easy to understand why the system has found a natural home in caravans, motorhomes, campervans, boats and yachts. It is also handy around the house, beside the pool, on the patio or anywhere an overturned drink could turn a relaxing afternoon into a frantic search for paper towel.
SILWY Products for Every Part of the Journey
The SILWY range includes magnetic drinking cups, wine glasses, champagne flutes, beer glasses, handled travel mugs, bowls and plates. These can be combined with reusable nano-gel pads, permanently mounted metal strips and magnetic pins to create a practical system for drinking, dining, storage and organisation while travelling.

There are elegant magnetic crystal wine glasses and champagne flutes for travellers who refuse to drink a decent drop from a plastic camping cup—and fair enough too.
The magnetic insulated tumblers and handled travel mugs are ideal for morning coffees, cold drinks and evenings around the campsite. The magnetic bowls bring the same stability to snacks, breakfast, dips and meals, while nano-gel mats, pads and magnetic mounting accessories help secure and organise items around the caravan or boat.

Across the wider range you will also find magnetic beer and long-drink glasses, plates, porcelain cups, plastic drinkware, spice mills, hooks, pins, storage strips, paper-towel holders and adapters that can add the SILWY system to selected items you already own.
What we love
What we like most is that SILWY solves a genuine travel annoyance without making life more complicated. The reusable pads require no drilling, screwing or elaborate installation. Clean the surface, position the pad and place the matching magnetic item on top. Job done.

The products also look like proper household drinkware rather than something borrowed from a child’s picnic set. That combination of practicality, attractive design and simple operation makes SILWY useful well beyond the traditional caravanning market.
In Australia, SILWY products are available through Everything Caravans (opens in a new tab), the brand’s exclusive Australian importer. Everything Caravans offers the range online and from its Dandenong South premises in Melbourne.
For travellers who enjoy arriving with their glasses intact, their cupboards quiet and their morning coffee still upright, SILWY is one travel accessory that genuinely earns its keep.
